Every day I experience and see first-hand how much parents care about their children. Only wanting the best education, feeding them all the healthy foods, teaching them the right values, etc.

But so often those same parents don’t think twice about buying that plastic bottle of water, getting a take-away coffee in a disposable cup or conveniently using plastic packaging and bags when shopping. I get it, we’re so used to it, it’s so easy and from what we know it’s harmless… Or at least that’s what we think.

That’s why it’s so encouraging to see that more and more people, from all ages and walks of life, do want to reconsider their habits and every day purchases, because it’s in the best interest of our planet and therefore in the best interest of our kids to buy and use less plastic.

It’s been two months since we’ve started Happie Bamboo and we’ve been overwhelmed by the support and response we’ve received. So far, 68 people have ordered at least one of our natural bamboo products and the feedback has been very positive. Thank you!

Australia currently has an estimated population of 25.2 Mil people, so we still have a long way to go in convincing people to give up the plastic consumables they’ve always purchased and try a more sustainable alternative.

At Happie Bamboo we understand breaking a habit is not always easy. I can tell you that at our home everyone has switched to bamboo toothbrushes and we all love them. Yes, it was a little bit different initially, but our teeth are still clean, and our breath is fresh. Equally important, our kids have started asking questions about why they switched from a plastic to a bamboo toothbrush, and the conversations around sustainability and thinking about the environment when buying something has really made an impact on them. It has changed their view on what they want to buy in the supermarket which we think is great.

•  How long does it take a bamboo toothbrush to decompose?

If you just throw a bamboo toothbrush into your garden, it might take as long as 5-10 years to fully break down. A home composter should take around 4-6 months (depends on composition).

Well, the short answer is yes. Because the handle (and our packaging) is biodegradable, you can put it into your compost after you're done with it, or reuse it in your garden as a plant stake
